My objective is to capture the Air Force story through combat documentation and media production. This experience lends itself to my adaptability and bolsters my media capabilities.

Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications

Military Motion Media Program

The Newhouse School at SU is home to the Department of Defense-sponsored program that teaches active-duty service members photojournalism and broadcast journalism. As government students enrolled in the Military Motion Media (MMM) program, I attended Newhouse for 10 months to learn how to become a better storyteller, taking 30 credits of coursework in communications, photojournalism, photography, broadcast and digital journalism, design, sound and documentary production.

The mission of COMCAM is to provide the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), the Military Departments (MILDEPs), the combatant commands, and the joint task forces (JTFs) with a directed imagery capability in support of operational and planning requirements during wartime operations, worldwide crises, contingencies, and joint exercises.

DOD Worldwide

Advanced Military Visual Storytelling Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to enhance visual communications skills in conjunction with photographic knowledge, proficiency and qualifications. Twice I was selected as a DoD videographer and worked with an acclaimed faculty of industry professionals who provided professional instruction and critiques in assigned small group settings designed to challenge attendee's visual communication abilities, while working a specific photographic story/assignment produced during the week.

August 2015 & July 2016

National Press Photographers Association

Advanced Storytelling Workshop

The program is designed for experienced TV and newspaper photojournalists, reporters and video journalists. The hands-on program is a mixture of classroom sessions combined with opportunities where I produced on-deadline stories that showcased what I learned. Great emphasis is placed on developing a clear focus before shooting begins. Stories are produced under real-world deadlines. The finished stories are constructively critiqued by a faculty that includes some of the best reporters and visual journalists in the industry today.
